I'm done!

For the past year I've been working on a project on flickr called "One object 365days project"

I found the group and took my first picture that night. My object was a light bulb.

Whose name eventually turned into Lighty.

I'm not really sure why I chose a light bulb. Looking back it probably was not the most ideal object. (he broke on day 220)

After a couple of days, lighty got switched to a bigger bulb because little lighty had disappeared.
Here are a few of my favorites...

Day 9

Day 82

Day 172

Day 354

and finally day 366 (leap year)

You can see the whole set HERE!
Let me know if you have a favorite.

A budding artist?

I've noticed that my two year old daughter has quite the creative side.. Ok I know all two year olds have a creative side. Anywho.. She's been coloring with her crayons and chalk since before she was one. She made this wonderful master piece on the walls with chalk a few months ago.. Luckily it was chalk and wiped right off. She went after a window with an orange crayon as well.. That one is not as easy to clean and I must admit is still a beautiful master piece. Mainly because I haven't been able to scrub it off yet. Those were the only two times she has displayed her artistic side where she wasn't suppose too. Oh wait.. there was one more in the stairwell. Just a simple purple line and every time we walked past it she would say "look crayon".

She usually just colors on the back of used paper or just clear white paper.
She stole my notebook and did this to the cover.

Here's another...

Recently she's been making circles.. but I don't have pictures of those. She just draw 3-4 circle shapes in different colors.

Sometimes She'll color in her coloring books. I'm surprised at how she'll actually try and color inside the lines.

I was at the store tonight buying my son school supplies and I decided to get her some water color paints. A little scared at the mess they might make but decided that I should fuel her creative side. We laid down some newspaper and my son tried to show her how to use them. Of course she doesn't like it when her big brother tries to help her.. I put a little water in each color.. gave her the brush and let her go to town. I told her to use the brush to paint and she looks at me and says "brush?" then uses her finger like a toothbrush.. I said "no" then she just started painting.. (BTW she loves to brush her teeth.. She'll brush them 3-4 times a day)

OK so anyway I wanted to share the painting she made today.

Here is another.

Ok yes.. just scribbles from a two year old but I wanted to share.. :)

I am officially employed..

I've been looking for a part time job for awhile now. I saw that the fabric store in town was hiring part time so I applied.. As you can see from the title.. they hired me! YaY! Hopefully I enjoy the job.. The lady that interviewed me seemed really nice and it sounds like they'll work around my schedule so that I won't have to pay for day care.. I didn't ask about discounts or anything but I'm assuming I'll get one.. My fabric stash may just increase a bit in size.. I don't think this will effect my etsy shop much because I'm not working many hours.. If anything I may actually be able to add more too it because I'll have more money for supplies.. YaY me!

I may be an idiot..

but at least it was free... So yeah.. That awesome new stamp I got for my shop.. I missed spelled a word..The easiest word in the world to spell.. "visit" "visIt" A word I have probably spelled a billion times in my life.. I put "vist" apparently I can't proof-read my own crap.
SEE!

The good thing is that the stamp was free.. Maybe I can put tape over that top line or something..

Lookie Lookie!

My new business cards came in the mail!
I've been wanting to print my own again for a few months now! But never seem to buy any new printer ink. I figured if I'm going to actually have any.. I might have to just order them from some other place. I've heard a lot of good and bad things about vistaprints. I figured I would be careful and just go for it. I ordered 250 cards for the cost of shipping. I didn't go for the plain backside so that didn't cost extra either. I got a free stamp and I choose the 21 day shipping.. but they got here in less than a week. Oh and I didn't upload my own design. I will next time. I really just wanted to see what I got before I put too much money into it. Anywho.. Check um out!

New Earrings

I just listed these earrings in Ecostar.

I also relisted a painting on Glitterstar and posted this new bracelet.

I joined a bunch of new groups on flickr. I only posted a few pictures in them. Hopefully I can post more tomorrow. It seems like the same people.. post the same pictures.. in most groups that are related. Maybe that's the idea..

Argh!

So I've been working on setting up an actual website. Something that will basically showcase everything. A central location for all of my stuff. I was working on it last night and decided to publish it even though it isn't quite finished. Sounds easy but I can't get it to work right. I'll put it on the back burner for awhile and maybe I'll figure out how to fix it in a few days.. haha! Wishful thinking...

Two new bracelets

Today I moved another bracelet over to Ecostar and listed a new one on Glitterstar.

This one is made from paper beads. I hand rolled the beads. They are made from an old book page and are completely sealed.

Here is the new one for Glitterstar

Recycled Scratchpad Tutorial

Hey everyone! I haven't done a tutorial in about a year.. So I figured it's about time!

Today I'll be showing you how to make a recycled scratchpad.

What you need: Used paper that is blank on one side.. (It doesn't HAVE to be blank but it is easier to write on) Some glue or mod podge, scissors or paper cutter, something heavy and a piece of card board.
I recommend something sturdy like a cereal box, but I didn't have one on hand.
Optional: a ruler

Gather up your paper and measure out the size you want. You can either cut a few pieces at a time with your scissors or use a paper cutter. If you don't want to measure.. just eyeball one piece and then use that to cut the rest. I like to make mine small enough so that I can get at least two pieces from each piece of paper.
Ok so we have paper and it's all cut!

Take one of those pieces and grab your card board. Cut your cut board the same size as the paper.

Grab all of your papers and line them up on one end. Give it a little tap on the table. ;)

SEE!

Squeeze the pieces together on one end and put a strip of glue or mod podge on the end.
try to just get the end of the pieces.

Lay your papers onto another scrap paper and weigh it done.
The pages will probably get a little stuck to the paper they are laying on. This is fine. Just peel off as much of it as you can.

Once everything is dry.. go grab your card board! Glue or mod podge the bottom piece of paper onto it. You'll want to spread the glue over the entire piece. Let it dry!

You're done! Now doodle and sketch or write your mom a note! Then rip it off and start all over again!

New banner

Things are moving along quite well in the new shop.
I made a banner last night. Check it out! I'll probably change it later, but that's it for now.

I'm slowly moving my upcycled items over to the new shop. I'm not sure what to do about my mini wall hanging. Technically it should go to the new shop, but it's in the gift guide. It brings a lot of views into my shop. I think I would be stupid to take it out of there.

A big change.. again..

A couple of months ago I went from having one shop to having two. Well my summer took over and I didn't really put any effort into either shop. You can probably tell seeing how often I updated my blog in the last 3 months.

I have decided to close up my Glitterstitch shop. Everything I had listed there will be put back into my Glitterstar shop. Once I have everything transfered back I will close up Glitterstitch. Never fear though I will still have two different shops. I just plan on separating them a little differently. My second shop will now be called Ecostar. Anything recycled or ecofriendly will be moved into this shop. I feel this will be a better fit for my items. We'll see how it goes. Now I have a lot of work to do...
